The Foundation

Renewable resources and bio-based processes are now used to make many of the products we use in our daily lives that were previously made using fossil fuels. Not only do they have a much smaller environmental footprint, but they are often of a higher quality.

Through its funding opportunities, the Foundation aims to encourage scientists from all fields of science, and especially young talents, to demonstrate courage and commitment in suitable cutting-edge projects. Successful communication of biobased science also plays an important role: focusing on sound scientific research while providing accessible and clear information to both the scientific community and the general public.

Rethinking the interplay between nature, economy, and technology

New research and new products are the basis for bioeconomic strategies and products that benefit human health and the environment, while contributing to social prosperity. Communication and dialogue are essential elements to gain the attention and ultimately the support of policy makers, the media, and the general public.

The Foundation was initiated by Professor Christine Lang. It welcomes donations and is open to collaboration with other foundations, public and private institutions, the media, and scientific organisations.
