The Founder
Prof. Dr. Christine Lang is a scientist and entrepreneur. She studied biology in Bochum (Germany) and Sussex (UK) and obtained her Ph.D. in the molecular genetics of fungi and her Habilitation in the field of microbiology and molecular genetics. She has worked in industrial research, founded biotechnology companies to explore the positive effects of lactic acid bacteria and yeasts, and taught genetics for many years as a professor at the Technical University (TU) in Berlin.
Christine Lang chaired the Bioeconomy Council of the German Federal Government and was President of the German Association for General and Applied Microbiology (Vereinigung für Allgemeine und Angewandte Mikrobiologie VAAM). She is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research, Co-Chair of the Industrial Bioeconomy Working Group in the Biotechnology Industry Association BIO Deutschland, Deputy Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Leibniz Institute for Agricultural Engineering and Bioeconomy, a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research UFZ, as well as a member of various other advisory bodies and advisory boards.
Using the positive effects of microorganisms
Under her leadership, academic and industrial research teams identified microorganisms with health benefits, including medical skincare, laying the foundation for microbiotic skincare products. Natural bacteria have also been researched and definedagainst Helicobacter pylori (product name "pylopass"), dental caries, bacterial throat infections, or multi-resistant pathogens or bacteria (multidrug-resistant organisms MDRO). Many of the products and active ingredients have gone through a qualified patenting process and are now commercially available.
Christine Lang has received several awards, both as an entrepreneur and as a scientist.
